Where Her Last Portrait Began
In January 2025, Austrian artist Daniela Luschin began portraying every woman who was killed in a femicide in Austria. It started as an act of resistance — against forgetting, against silence, against the way these women vanish from public memory. The project grew from one simple truth: Femicide is not an isolated tragedy. It is a structural reality.
Her Last Portrait was born from a need to create a visual archive of remembrance, one that restores dignity to women whose lives were taken because they were women.
